Michael Cywink

Michael Cywink is a First Nations, Anishnaabe artist affiliated with Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve, currently residing in Espanola, Ontario. Cywink is actively involved in the community development of First Nations cultural arts. He studied at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he received his Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Museum Study – Exhibition and Collections Management. Michael has served as Cultural Consultant for First Nations Imagery in Walt Disney Theme Parks. Between 1997 and 2006, Cywink was Curator for the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation Museum, M’Chigeeng First Nation. Michael Cywink utilizes his art in a therapeutic manner with children and adults. He considers art to be a “gift of historical recovery.”
