Brian Atyeo

Brian Atyeo

“Art and the creative experience
are expressions of one’s spirit and the
true path to the cathedral which
exists in all of us.”

The paintings of Brian Atyeo are well known for their bold and spiritual impressions of jazz, figure and the Canadian landscape. His work is a constant exploration of colour and form showing remarkable confidence.
Atyeo was born in Toronto and worked as a freelance artist, before moving to Calgary, taking a position as an illustrator apprentice. Not long after, Atyeo ventured on his own to open B.A. Architectural Rendering Services Ltd.
Independent study, commercial illustration and creative painting played an important role in the artist’s development in the following years.
By 1980, Atyeo was showing his work in Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto, devoting his time fully to painting. Without constraints of business for the first time in his career, he would focus on creative painting and workshop instruction.
Using the Canadian landscape, and his love of traditional and modern jazz, he works in an evolving series of paintings which reflect his unique response to contemporary life. Atyeo is a member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour (C.S.P.W.C.) and the Ontario Society of Artists (O.S.A.). His work is found throughout Canada, the United States and Europe in corporate, government and private collections.
