The Plastic Mountain
This work was exhibited in a poetry/painting context.  The painting was done first, based on small rocks from Lake Temiskaming.  I composed the poem to accompany the painting afterwards.  The painting is 30” X 36”, acrylic on canvas, 2008.

bio

Martin Foley was born in Montreal. As well as teaching art in the Gaspe and Northern Ontario, he has pursued a career as an artist working with egg tempera and more recently acrylic. He has had solo exhibitions in Ottawa, Toronto, and the Temiskaming area where he now resides. His work has been shown in numerous group shows and he has been the recipient of numerous painting and drawing awards. He has also received his NOAA letters and his work has been accepted by the Ontario Society of Artists juried show. He has also represented Northeastern Ontario at Ontario Place.

The main elements in his paintings are light and texture and working with the geology of the north and taking liberties with the actual subject matter his realistic work is gradually evolving into a more surrealistic image of the northern landscape.
