Margo Little

Bio

Margo Little is an author, educator, columnist, photojournalist, event planner and former community development worker. Her academic qualifications include a BA (English and French) and an MA in Interdisciplinary Humanities from Laurentian University. Although she was born and raised on Manitoulin Island, she has worked as a reporter in California and as a news editor in British Columbia and Northern Ontario. She has served as the Communications Officer for 21 Indian Friendship Centres in B.C. and produced a Silver Anniversary commemorative magazine entitled “The Evolution of Friendship Centres.” Other non-fiction publishing credits include “The Moral Dilemma of High Stakes Gambling in Native Communities,” and “The Other Woman Was Lady Luck: True Stories From Monte Carlo to Casino Windsor.” In addition, she has contributed essays to the Journal of Aboriginal Economic Development, Feminist Definitions of Caring Communities and the Aboriginal Curatorial Collective’s Journal.
Ms. Little has also won numerous prizes for her literary fiction. Her short stories have appeared in The Toronto Star, The Sudbury Star and Northern Life. Her work is also included in “Outcrops: Northeastern Ontario Short Stories,” and “Meg’s Solo,” a collection of timeless Christmas tales.
She is a founding member of the Sudbury Writers’ Guild, founder of the Manitoulin Writers’ Retreat and the Manitoulin Writers’ Circle. Currently, she is a regular contributor to the Aboriginal Multi-Media Association of Alberta, Manitoulin Publishing, Osprey Media and Highgrader Magazine.
