David Read

David Read was born in England, and emigrated to Canada in 1957. He began to paint seriously in 1993, discovering the beauty of transparent watercolours. David received art instruction from various established artists in life drawing, watercolour (landscape), watercolour (portrait), and acrylics. He now paints primarily landscapes, in watercolours, acrylics and oils. David strives to paint in a loose style, always preferring to leave something to the viewers’ imagination. David feels that his work is an emotional response to nature. He sees painting as a personal interpretation of one's surroundings, filtered by the artists' own life experiences.
